Welcome Back Chiefs'
Welcome Back 2013 Chiefs’
This year Memphis City Schools became unified with Shelby County Schools. The newly unified school system became effective in July, and opened its doors to a new school year August 5th, 2013. Despite the transition and challenges the faculty, staff and students of Craigmont High were geared up for teaching and learning. Teachers attended numerous professional development meetings to prepare for the incoming scholars. Guidance counselors worked tirelessly to provide students with adequate schedules. Faculty and staff continued registration well into the fifth week of school. Registration woes were met with willing workers to get the job done. School climate has been pleasant thus far.
The Craigmont High Chiefs' welcomed new members to the administration, faculty staff and student body with open arms. It is good to see everyone rolling up their sleeves and digging into the plethora of work that C.H.S. is charged with this year to make our school even greater.

Friday, September 6, 2013 C.H.S. Pep Rally
Under the direction of Ms. Mitchell and her team C.H.S. had the best rally ever! The band played well under the leadership of Mr. Ivory as the majorettes dance to their tunes. The cheer leaders, football team & student body reigned with great Chief-like spirit as they chanted and bellowed out which class had the most school spirit. Teachers participated in a football game against one another… read more under teacher spotlight.

Love this Picture. Fifty years later…Martin or Obama hmmmm?
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, it is good and at the same time disheartening to know that in the wake
of the Trayvon Martin verdict African-Americans are still marching for justice. To find out more about the BWABC Literacy Festival click here http://speaktomebooks.com/2013/08/yes-we-can-yes-we-did-50-years-later/
Saturday, October 19, 2013 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk
Get involved! We are the Craigmont Pink Chiefs’! Last year Craigmont High’s Student Council led the Methodist North Health Fair, where we incorporated our own health walk around the school grounds in honor of breast cancer awareness. We raised $163.47 plus an additional $25 dollars from Skills USA. All the proceeds were donated to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Let’s do it again bigger and better. Our goal is to raise $1,000 dollars. Homeroom teachers we are asking that you encourage your students and collect at least $1 dollar to help us reach our goal. We also ask that you lead by example to contribute to a cause that is much greater than us. Please log on to http://main.acsevents.org/goto/CraigmontPinkChiefsto learn more about the Craigmont Pink Chiefs’.

Teacher Of The MonthFacts, Favorites & Interests: Teacher Name: Jeremy Sager Native City & State:Charleston, Missouri How long in Memphis: 20 years Years of Teaching total. Has been teaching for 4 years at Craigmont High School. Current course(s) Taught: English 1 & 2 and Academic Counseling Past-Time/ Hobbies: Reading, writing, working out, working in youth ministry, & traveling Philosophy/Motto: “ Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Future Of Education: Education is on the brink of a great breakthrough. For years, as a student and an educator, I have watched education and educators transform into effective models for student achievement and growth. Educators who are dedicated have truly been successful in moving students to the next level; however, there are many who really do not have students' best interests at heart. As a dedicated educator who leads students, and is aspiring to lead other educators, I see education in the aspect of growing pains. Although we have become more innovative, there are still major achievement gaps that must be closed. In order to reach this goal, we must ensure that our holistic approach to serving our students embodies building positive relationships, being results/actions-focused, being data-driven, and collaborating with colleagues and experts about what really works. Such a commitment has proven to be successful, and I see these processes as a vehicle to raising the expectations for student achievement and success. Jeremy Sager is an influential educator and progressive individual. Working tirelessly to prepare his scholars for a productive future in addition to providing an enriched curriculum he collaborates and coordinates extraordinary field experiences for his pupil. This entails applying for grants, researching and a great deal of planning. For the past three years he has collaborated with the School Library Information Specialist and another educator, Mr. Rodgers to bring arts in education together. The ninth grade is grateful to have him as a team player. Being a team player does not limit his leadership abilities. Mr. Sager has demonstrated high-level leadership qualities as an educator and presenter to his co-workers. Ms. Sherilyn Brown, Principal at Craigmont High has noticed his passion for leadership and has mentored and allowed Sager to flourish at the school, providing him with leadership opportunities as he shadows her. Mr. Sager was also a team player in the Freshman transition camp led by Dr. Campbell. He was eager to work with the students he would soon be teaching. Mr. Sager is no stranger to extracurricular activities. Phi Mu Omega is an all-male organization that focuses on academics, brotherhood, and community service. Phi Mu Omega was birthed at CHS in August 2011, sponsored by Jeremy Sager, and student-led by Devante Henderson. The group has participated in various school activities and countless community service projects, such as Mid-South Food Bank. Males considered for placement in this organization must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, no N or U ever, and must stay committed to the organization once a part until graduation. By showing up at the pep rally as the African American Ivory in the dynamic dual with his co-worker and partner in crime Mr. Rodgers, who appeared as the Caucasian version of Ebony exhibits that Sager is a fun-loving guy who goes beyond the call of duty for the students at Craigmont. The kids really got a kick out of the comical stunt as Sager acted as a member of an opposing make shift football team against opponents made up of his co-workers. He was a good sport as he battled with Mr. Wright once again. Mr. Wright, Mr. Sager’s all-time resembling rival describes Sager “as a kindhearted gentleman who beat me up last year.” But all fun and jokes aside, Sager is all about the business education. He is organized and well-planned says guidance counselor Trenda Myers. Mr. Sager is a well-rounded self-start educator, who is professional at all times in communicating with parents, students and the faculty and staff of Craigmont High. -Dr. Fayne Mr. Sager is charismatic, dedicated, and structured. He works hard to make sure that he makes a positive impact on students. He is a joy to work with. There’s no other man closer to my heart - Ms. McIntyre Mr. Sager is working on his doctorate degree in administration at Walden University. He wants to become an influential school administrator. | Book Of The MonthThirteen Reasons Why you should read Thirteen Reasons Why By: Timothy Richmond,Jr. Reasons Why: .Breathtaking .Story of a lifetime .
